This is a great piece and leaves me wanting more. I especially enjoyed his description of riding Greyhound. Please continue to document your experiences and interview more people. Even if you just stay in one place I have a feeling you can dig up interesting stories. Thank you for giving me a rich set of vicarious experiences.
When was this made? A few years ago? It's tough to catch rides these days...
This recording was made way back in 2002. It's true that it is difficult to hold onto that sense of excitement as time goes on, but in those moments where youthful exuberance hasn't slipped away - the rides are still forthcoming.
Who does that one song about "Floating"? "Someone's suffocating in a three room house...I want to be swimming I want to be floating..." Thanks man. Nice program.
That track is by Aphid Ant Constructions, the band that we were following to Athens from Gainesville at that moment. They're still around and have a web page: http://www.aphidant.com/
I don't know if someone has told you this already, but the girl with the escalator-thing is clearly a fan of Mitch Hedberg. If you want to hear other great stuff by Mitch check out:

I really enjoyed this story. I wish i was there!
Good music too!
Does anyone know who the two songs on the recording are by? Especially the first...
The first is Aphid Ant Constructions (http://www.aphidant.com/), and the second is the Mountain Goats (that particular song is on the album West Texas).
This is a great listen.
Thanks man! this is good stuff.

A wonderful story, and I also think you should do more. You have obviously got a great talent for this sort of thing.
I didn't like the music, but that is a matter of taste I guess. I liked the lyrics though...
